I also participated in the strength and conditioning program alongside my players and sons. To be fair to anyone who reads this, I am going to be truthful about my entire time with EFX. I was overweight on September 1st. I’m 45 years old, 6’4″ and weighed 280 pounds. An athletic 280, but I needed to lose body fat. So I started out, again, on a journey. I changed my diet, joined the gym and started going to EFX twice a week. The weight lifting and diet certainly helped, but I owe most of my weight loss to Mike. He knew when I needed to be pushed a little harder and he knew when to let me be. The principles he teaches along with the passion he shows is a recipe for success. Every time I left his facility I was drenched in sweat and endorphins. I felt great. The workouts are hard. There were many times that I pretended to be wiping sweat off my nose but in reality was flipping him the bird. He’ll push you to that point. But that’s what I needed. As I write this on January 25th, I am still 45 years old and still 6’4″. My weight is down to 245. I dropped 35 pounds in 21 weeks. That is healthy weight loss. Not a fab diet, not starvation. Hard work, exercise, eating right, hydrating and getting my rest. All principles Mike talks about during the training sessions. I am with holding my name from this email due to my positions in the baseball community. But trust me, it’s legit. Thank you, Mike. I feel better than I ever have. Things I’ve learned from Mike over the past few months:
– I love food, and it’s still weird to me that even though I eat more now than I ever have, I’m still losing body fat!
– I can eat 6 times a day and still reach my goal as long as I’m eating the right stuff
– you don’t have to ‘live at the gym’ to get results, you just have to do specific things in a specific order
– it IS possible to lose fat while also gaining muscle, you just need a good plan and plenty of determination

I started working with a personal trainer at EFX about eighteen months ago. I chose the one on one training due to my Parkinson’s Disease (diagnosed in 2010)) and my inability to move quickly, lack of balance and the confidence to do things I used to do. My goal was to build strength and flexibility to be able to do normal day to day activities without pain and difficulty. Mike Bistany my personal trainer set programs that were feasible for me and made necessary modifications as needed. He has worked with dedication, support and commitment by making constant changes to my workout sessions to help me achieve my goals. Things I previously did with difficulty have become easier.
Mike is a true professional who has taken personal care in my training and I will be forever grateful to him. He explains how the body mechanics work which gives me a better understanding of why I am doing certain exercises. I recently completed a 24 mile bike trek and a 5 hour hike the following day with a difficult rating. I am back to my hunting and fly fishing this year with renewed confidence and independence. Mike is a great trainer. There are all sorts of challenges with kettlebells. I find his strong point is his comprehensive knowledge of the musculature anatomy of the body.
